View News Recent Award Recipients October 1, 2009 Professors Kent Eaton and Mark Massoud Professor Kent Eaton has received a 2009 Distinguished Teaching Award from the Division of Social Sciences. Kent Eaton Professor Mark Fathi Massoud has won the 2009 Edward S. Corwin Award from the American Political Science Association for his dissertation, "Who Rules the Law? How Government, Civil Society, and Aid Agencies Manipulate Law in Sudan." The Corwin Award is given annually for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of public law, broadly defined to include the judicial process, judicial behavior, judicial biography, courts, law, legal systems, the American constitutional system, or civil liberties. Earlier this year, Massoud's dissertation also received the 2009 best dissertation prize from the Law and Society Association. Corwin Award
