Biography, Education and Training

A Ph.D. student studying Politics, Hugo Galindo (he/they) interrogates the complex ties linking culture and socio-economic injustice. Conducted in the context of American politics, Hugo asks how our culture shapes who we are, what we believe, and the power dynamics we operate under (and invest in) within a single political landscape.

Interdisciplinary in nature, Hugo’s research lineage is shaped most notably by critical theorists across sociology, political science, and psychology. Integral to their approach is the belief that social truths can be found just as effectively in non-academic sources as in academia. Consequently, you can find Hugo engaging with works of non-fiction, podcasts, and film for sources of inspiration and/or manuals in conveying affect.
