Interests:  Primary interests are the political and legal cultures of the war on terror, the history and politics of states of emergency, sovereignty, and jurisprudence. He utilizes the tools of psychoanalysis and political philosophy.

Zwald, Zachary

Interests:  International Relations theory (bridging the Rationalist-Constructivist divide on issues of security); psychological and organizational aspects of judgment and decision-making (particularly under conditions of high and persistent uncertainty); the relationship between nuclear weapons and security (the theory and practice of deterrence, the causes and consequences of nuclear proliferation, as well as the normative and institutional aspects of arms control); issues at the intersection of science, technology and security (e.g. space weaponization, global warming, genetic modification, and nanotechnology); international political economy (classical and contemporary theory as well as trade regimes and strategies for development); qualitative research methods.
